Traveller journals, and what they are for

Farside Passport lets you keep a journal of your travels and share it with your friends or, after Farside has read it, with everyone. These guidelines are part of the terms you accept before writing your first entry.

Write about the place, in your own words, with your own photos.

Share what you saw, ate, got wrong and would do again. Use only photos you took, or have the right to use. You keep the rights to what you write; by sharing an entry you allow Farside to show it in the app and on farside.earth to the people you chose.

Location data is removed from every photo on your phone and again on our servers before anyone else can see it. Places in an entry are never finer than the city you picked.

No one’s private details. Nothing hateful, sexual or violent. No advertising.

Farside removes entries that show another person’s private details (faces of children, house numbers, names people did not agree to share), that harass, threaten or demean anyone, that contain sexual content, that encourage violence or self-harm, that are spam or paid promotion, or that break the law where you or the place you write about are.

Words that are never acceptable are blocked before an entry can be shared. Accounts that repeatedly break these guidelines are closed.

Public entries are read by Farside before they appear.

An entry you share with Just Me or Friends is visible at once to the people you chose. An entry you submit as Public appears under its country only after Farside has read and approved it, usually within a day. An edit to a published entry is read again; the earlier version stays up until the edit is approved.

Every report reaches a person within 24 hours.

Any reader can report an entry from the entry itself. Reports go straight to Farside and are answered within 24 hours. An entry that several readers report is hidden automatically until Farside has looked at it. Reporters are never named to the author.

You can hide every entry and photo from a traveller with Hide Entries From This Traveller. This also ends your friendship on Farside. You can undo it under You → Notifications & Privacy.

Unpublish, edit or delete at any time.

You can make an entry private, edit it or delete it whenever you like. Deleting your account deletes every entry and photo with it.

Questions or a concern about an entry? Write to support@farside.earth. These guidelines were last updated in October 2026.
